Microsoft Invites PS5 Owners to Play Age of Empires IV
The Redmond-based company is accelerating its move into the multiplatform market, shifting from a traditional console manufacturer to a full-fledged third-party publisher and increasingly bringing its major titles to the PS5.
Starting today, PS5 owners can try Age of Empires IV through early access. As one of Microsoft’s flagship strategy franchises, the game’s arrival on a rival platform highlights the company’s aim to reach the widest possible audience.
Developers at World’s Edge have confirmed the release will include a complete single-player campaign as well as an expanded online component. Owners of the premium edition received early access beginning October 29.
The full launch — covering both the standard and deluxe editions — is scheduled for November 4, 2025. That same day the Dynasties of the East expansion debuts, adding four distinct civilizations with unique mechanics, a new single-player mode, eight maps, and six biomes that reshape the campaign and multiplayer experience.
