Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 Graphics Comparison: Xbox Currently Outperforms the PS5 Pro

The first beta tests of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 have begun on PS5 and PS5 Pro, allowing a side-by-side comparison of visuals with the Xbox Series X edition.

In flight simulators, a large draw distance is essential — it determines how practical navigation by visual landmarks is. At this stage the PS5 Pro noticeably trails the XSX: Microsoft’s console renders distant cityscapes and the skyscrapers beyond New York, while the PS5 Pro shows only a blurred ground texture.

Another weak point is the PSSR upscaling, already known from other games for causing clarity issues. Around the third minute of Cycu1’s video you can clearly see pronounced shimmering in dense foliage on the PS5 Pro. Both consoles also suffer from low-resolution ground textures.

Developers are currently running a beta, so some visual shortcomings may be addressed before launch. However, a major graphical leap for the PS5 Pro compared to the Xbox Series X seems unlikely — a powerful PC is still needed for the best visuals.

MSFS 2024 also continues to contain numerous bugs.
