Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, the tag-team fighter from the developers behind Dragon Ball FighterZ and Guilty Gear Strive, will return for a second closed beta test. The inaugural test ran from September 5–7 and offered online matches, limited local play, and a six-character selection. The upcoming closed beta, scheduled for December 5–7, expands the roster and testing features to give players a broader look at the game’s systems.

This December test adds playable Spider-Man and Robbie Reyes’ Ghost Rider, and introduces two new stages: Savage Land (first shown at Tokyo Game Show) and the X-Mansion, revealed alongside the latest announcement. The X-Mansion stage leans into the X-Men mythos, with background appearances by figures such as Colossus, Beast, and Professor X. The beta also improves the online experience with uninterrupted sessions, rollback netcode, enhanced offline options, and a spectator mode for watching matches.

With Spider-Man and Ghost Rider joining the slate, the December closed beta will feature eight characters in total: Captain America, Doctor Doom, Ghost Rider (Robbie Reyes), Iron Man, Ms. Marvel, Spider-Man, Star-Lord, and Storm. The developer has not confirmed the final launch roster. As a reference point, Dragon Ball FighterZ shipped with 23 playable fighters at release (including unlockables) and later expanded to 45 through post-launch additions, so it’s reasonable to expect the Marvel title to grow over time given the franchise’s vast character pool.
