Did NVIDIA Strip DLSS 5 of Its Main Advantage? Players Prefer Unofficial Mods

Comment Views: 0

NVIDIA has toned down the effect of DLSS 5 in the official version for Hogwarts Legacy, leaving some players struggling to see a difference and asking for the ability to adjust its intensity.

Hogwarts Legacy is the third game to support DLSS 5, which now works without user-made mods. War Thunder and Where Winds Meet are next in line, with a release scheduled for November 23, 2026.

Some players are unhappy with the implementation. NVIDIA has limited the intensity of Neural Rendering enough to make the DLSS 5 effect difficult to notice. The official settings offer only an on-off switch, with no way to adjust the strength of the image processing.

NVIDIA kept its promise to respect game creators’ artistic vision, making the effect almost imperceptible. The company faced a wave of criticism after its first DLSS 5 demonstration. Now, judging by the community’s response, it may have been too cautious. User-made mods allow for a much more pronounced effect and let players adjust the processing intensity themselves.

In comments under NVIDIA’s official YouTube video, players complained that the difference was barely visible:

There’s hardly any difference here. What a disappointment: because of criticism of the technology, we got a practically neutered version just to avoid controversy. I’ll stick with the unofficial build.
The difference is so slight that you have to zoom in to see it. It’s not worth it.
What’s the point? The effect is almost nonexistent. Give us the ability to adjust the intensity.
