Robert Downey Jr. returns to the Marvel universe, swapping Iron Man’s suit for the armored mantle of Doctor Doom.
A fresh promotional image for the film “Avengers: Judgment Day” has appeared online, showing Robert Downey Jr. portrayed as Doctor Doom. In the artwork the actor wears a green cloak and substantial engraved metal armor, decorated with motifs and symbols that nod to other figures across the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Keen-eyed fans have pointed out that the armor incorporates elements resembling Mjolnir — Thor’s hammer — Captain Marvel’s emblem, Shang-Chi’s rings, and Kamala Khan’s bracelets. Those references could signify an intertwining of storylines throughout the “Multiverse Saga.”
Avengers: Judgment Day is slated to premiere on December 18, 2026. The picture is billed as the first of two major crossover events that will conclude the Multiverse Saga. Returning to the screen will be not only familiar faces from the main MCU but also characters from Fox’s X-Men era — notably Patrick Stewart as Professor Xavier and Ian McKellen as Magneto.
