Making Things Better

Greetings, everyone!
Wishing you all a fantastic Friday. It’s a genuine pleasure to connect with you once again.
Throughout this week, our primary focus has remained steadfast on refining autonomous behavior systems. Specifically, our main objective has been to make the motivation behind every Zoi’s outing much more transparent and intuitive to players.
Previously, whenever Zois frequented spots like local cafés or bakeries, they tended to spend the vast majority of their time simply meandering, socializing, browsing their phones, or using the facilities, often completely neglecting the actual reason for their trip. While these spontaneous actions certainly added a layer of realism, they happened with such frequency that it became genuinely difficult to discern why a Zoi had traveled there in the first place.
To resolve this, we are overhauling the system so that Zois heavily prioritize fulfilling their primary itinerary. For instance, when a Zoi visits a bakery now, they will actually purchase bread, complete the necessary transactions, sit down to enjoy their meal, and then head straight back home. Naturally, we still want them to feel like authentic, breathing individuals, so they will occasionally strike up brief conversations or react to unexpected occurrences along the way. The ultimate goal is to maintain organic interactions without letting their routines feel overly scripted or mechanical.
We are also actively rebalancing how Zois allocate their time at various venues. The vast majority of their actions will now tie directly into their main objective, relegating randomized behaviors—such as looking around or chatting idly—to a much smaller footprint. Right now, we are targeting a harmonious balance of roughly 90% purpose-driven actions and 10% spontaneous ambient behaviors.
That being said, making these behavioral sequences excessively rigid introduces new hurdles. Should every available seat be occupied or a specific requirement fail to be met, a Zoi could easily become stuck. Consequently, our team is researching sophisticated methods to strengthen intentional behavior while ensuring Zois retain the flexibility to adapt smoothly to changing circumstances on the fly.
Another pivotal enhancement currently in production involves dismantling the logic that forces Zois to linger at a location for a predetermined, fixed duration. Instead, as soon as they wrap up their intended objective, we want them to make their way home naturally and fluidly.
These upgrades are currently being implemented across standard community lots, including cafés, bakeries, and public parks. Commercial venues and educational facilities operate under distinct development pipelines and are therefore being addressed separately.
Because this feature is still actively evolving, we are continuously testing and fine-tuning the mechanics to guarantee fluid, organic gameplay. Ultimately, our vision is for Zois to do far more than merely wander aimlessly; we want players to instantly grasp the exact narrative behind every Zoi’s journey.
That wraps things up for this week. We hope you thoroughly enjoy the latest development showcase from the inZOI team, and we wish you a wonderful weekend ahead!
