While Valve remains tight-lipped regarding a potential Steam Deck 2, Lenovo is moving forward with a more powerful, albeit premium, alternative for the handheld market.

At CES 2026, Lenovo officially took the wraps off the Legion Go 2, a refreshed version of its portable gaming flagship that will now ship with SteamOS pre-installed.

This marks the second Lenovo handheld to adopt Valve’s operating system following the budget-friendly Legion Go S. However, the Legion Go 2 is positioned as a high-end powerhouse, featuring top-tier internal specifications and a stunning OLED display.

On the technical side, the device remains a performance beast. It is built around the eight-core AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme processor (utilizing Zen 5 and Zen 5c architectures), paired with up to 32 GB of ultra-fast LPDDR5X-8000 memory and storage options reaching 2 TB. The centerpiece is an 8.8-inch OLED screen boasting a 144Hz refresh rate and 500 nits of brightness, all powered by a substantial 74 Wh battery.

Lenovo is betting that the synergy between high-end hardware and Valve’s optimized software environment will be the winning formula to capture the handheld market. However, this premium experience comes at a steep price. The SteamOS-equipped Legion Go 2 is set to launch in June 2026 with a starting price of $1,199. While it significantly undercuts the Steam Deck OLED on price, Lenovo is clearly targeting enthusiasts who prioritize performance and screen quality above all else.
