LEGO Sony PlayStation Set Officially Launches This Week

Following its brick-built homages to the Nintendo Entertainment System, Atari 2600, and Sega Genesis, Lego is expanding its lineup of iconic retro hardware by partnering with PlayStation. The highly anticipated Lego PlayStation set has finally been unveiled and is scheduled to hit shelves on October 1.

Comprising 1,911 pieces, the Lego Sony PlayStation is crafted at a near 1:1 scale and will retail for $179.99. Enthusiasts can construct an authentic replica of the original console and its controller entirely out of Lego bricks, alongside charming miniature dioramas that celebrate the platform’s formative years. The model features a fully functional “Open” button on the front-right panel, which triggers the spring-loaded lid to reveal a pair of nostalgic easter eggs. Concealed inside the build is a sizable Lego rendition of the classic “PS” emblem, accompanied by micro-dioramas inspired by 1997’s Gran Turismo and 1999’s Ape Escape.

With a piece count of 1,911, this new release is more compact than the Lego Atari 2600 (2,532 pieces) and the Lego Nintendo Entertainment System (2,646 pieces), though it surpasses the smaller Lego Sega Genesis (480 pieces). Each of Lego’s vintage gaming releases has introduced unique accompanying items, ranging from a retro cathode-ray television for the NES to interchangeable cartridges for the Atari 2600.
