Lego Skylines: A New Brick-Based City Builder From the Cities: Skylines II Developers

While the LEGO video game portfolio has steadily diversified over the years, the city-building simulation genre has always stood out as an intrinsically perfect match for the brand. That concept is now materializing into reality with LEGO Skylines, a newly announced title that entrusts players with orchestrating, designing, and nurturing dynamic urban hubs constructed entirely from classic plastic bricks and inhabited by lively minifigures. The official announcement trailer premiered during Gamescom’s Opening Night Live broadcast.

Development is being helmed by Iceflake Studios, the current studio steering Cities: Skylines II. Following the departure of original creators Colossal Order from publisher Paradox Interactive in late 2025, Paradox maintained ownership of the IP and enlisted Iceflake to guide ongoing production. This latest project expands that partnership, merging Paradox’s simulation pedigree with the creative freedom of the LEGO universe.

“Secure the essentials first—power, agriculture, and running water,” notes the game’s official Steam synopsis. “From there, transform your settlement into an enviable metropolis. Provide high-tier housing, competitive employment, verdant recreational parks, and plenty of corner bakeries. With an extensive catalog of structures, decorative assets, and deep customization tools, you can fashion a community that uniquely reflects your vision.”

Beneath the colorful aesthetic lies a full-fledged management system. Urban planners will need to balance healthcare infrastructure to keep citizens intact, establish supply chains for local businesses, and manage municipal services like sanitation, transit, and utility networks to keep their plastic civilizations humming smoothly.

While a firm launch window has yet to be revealed, LEGO Skylines is currently slated for release across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Nintendo’s upcoming next-generation platform (Switch 2).
