Launch of the ROG Xbox Ally X Is Just the Beginning: Microsoft Announces Major Updates and Improvements

Although the devices are already available, Microsoft stresses that the ROG Xbox Ally X and ROG Xbox Ally still require refinement, and the company has announced a series of updates and new features slated for the coming months.

Microsoft, in collaboration with ASUS, AMD and the Windows team, is advancing handheld gaming by acting on player feedback and multi-level cooperation. That commitment translates into continual gains in performance, battery longevity, compatibility, and the rollout of new capabilities for Xbox Ally devices.

Soon users will be able to try Default Game Profiles — an automatic system that balances performance and power draw to deliver smoother gameplay and longer battery life. Early 2026 will bring further additions: dock improvements and AI-powered features for the ROG Xbox Ally X, such as Automatic Super Resolution and automatic highlight recording.

Some of these innovations will be extended to all Windows devices. Right now, users can take advantage of improved controller navigation, Gaming Copilot (Beta), and an integrated games library within the Xbox app. Advanced Shader Delivery (ASD) will be introduced soon to help optimize game performance across Windows platforms.
