Larian Warns Players That Old Baldur’s Gate 3 and Divinity Cloud Saves Will Soon Be Deleted
Players have time to make a local copy of their save files.
In late August, Larian Studios reached out to fans and warned that certain cloud cross-saves would soon be deleted in games such as Baldur’s Gate 3 and Divinity: Original Sin 2 – Definitive Edition.
The developers clarified that the deletion will only affect saves created more than 6 months ago on a platform where the player used a Larian account. Players can prepare by downloading the files in advance and saving them locally:
Saves created directly on your device do not expire, but if you plan to sell your old device after September 29 and want to transfer your save to another platform, you must ensure that any cross-saves older than 6 months that you upload are synchronized and stored locally.

In this announcement, Larian Studios is referring to cloud saves associated with an account in the studio’s service. Steam uses different cloud saves for the game, which are handled by Valve and are not subject to this deletion.
In the announcement, the developers did not state whether they plan to conduct similar purges of “old” saves in the future.
