Lara Croft Animated Series May Not End With Season 2 — Showrunner Hints at Renewal
The second season of the animated series “Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft” arrives on Netflix on December 11, 2025. It had been reported earlier that this would be the final season, but the showrunner clarified the situation ahead of the premiere.
The animated adaptation “Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft” returns for a second season. In September 2025, Variety reported the new season would be the concluding chapter, but the matter is now less certain. In an interview with SFX Magazine, showrunner Tasha Ho explained that Netflix originally commissioned two seasons, and no firm decision has been reached about the show’s future beyond that.
“We’ll see where the finale takes us. Lara always has more stories to tell — it’s never a closed book.”
Consequently, the series’ continuation will depend on viewers’ response to season two. The first season, which premiered in 2024, earned mixed reactions — 73% positive reviews from critics but only 33% audience approval on Rotten Tomatoes. Fans are approaching the new season cautiously, recalling Tasha Ho’s divisive previous projects such as The Witcher: Origins and Red Sonja, though many hope the creative team has taken past criticisms into account.
