Krafton Asked ChatGPT How to Avoid Paying Bonuses Owed to Unknown Worlds’ Founders — Rumor

Even the AI hinted it would be wiser to simply pay.

Kotaku reporters have uncovered new details in the lawsuit between Krafton and Unknown Worlds founders Charles Cleveland, Adam McGuire, and Edward Gill. Sources say a senior Krafton executive sought guidance from ChatGPT on ways to avoid paying the developers a $250 million bonus that would become payable if the game exceeded a specified sales threshold.

The plaintiffs say the artificial intelligence also observed that “canceling the bonuses would be difficult” — a conclusion reportedly mirrored by Krafton’s own legal team.

Internal messages from Krafton, identified as “Project X,” are also cited: the company allegedly considered two paths — negotiating with the founders to reduce the bonus (“Deal”) or outright “taking over” the studio (“Take over”). After talks collapsed, management chose the latter option, which they described as the “easier” route.

This is simply an attempt to divert attention from the fact that the founders themselves instructed other key staff to delete “incriminating” chats from their ChatGPT accounts.

In addition, Krafton alleges the former leaders stole and withheld hundreds of thousands of confidential documents and destroyed some files after their dismissal.
