Apple has released a new trailer for the eagerly awaited second season of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, the Apple TV+ series set in Legendary’s Monsterverse. Unlike the first season’s emphasis on Godzilla, this preview shifts the spotlight toward King Kong.

The debut season followed two siblings as they uncovered their family’s ties to the clandestine organization Monarch, a path that entwined them with the Titans and with Army officer Lee Shaw — a role portrayed across eras by Kurt Russell and Wyatt Russell. Spanning the 1950s to the present day, that storyline traced Monarch’s origins and its fraught relationship with the kaiju that anchor the franchise.

Season 2 promises to dig deeper into concealed histories that draw allies and adversaries back into conflict. Apple says the upcoming episodes explore Kong’s Skull Island and a mysterious coastal settlement where a legendary Titan rises from the sea.

The Monsterverse — which began with Godzilla (2014) and continued through Kong: Skull Island (2017), Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019), Godzilla vs. Kong (2021), and Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire (2024) — provides the franchise backbone. While the series can’t match the theatrical spectacle of the films, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters offers a more character-driven, human-scale perspective on the Monsterverse’s mythology.

The 10-episode second season stars Kurt Russell, Wyatt Russell, Anna Sawai, Kiersey Clemons, Ren Watabe, Mari Yamamoto, Joe Tippett, and Anders Holm. It will premiere globally on Friday, February 27, 2026, with new episodes released weekly through May 1, 2026.

Produced by Legendary Television, the series is executive produced by Joby Harold and Tory Tunnell (Safehouse Pictures), with Chris Black returning as showrunner. Additional executive producers include Jen Roskind, Matt Shakman, Andrew Colville, and Lawrence Trilling — Trilling directing four episodes. Colville also contributes as a writer and executive producer on two episodes. Toho Co., Ltd., the original home of Godzilla, is represented by executive producers Hiro Matsuoka and Takemasa Arita, following the company’s licensing of character rights to Legendary.

Premiere: Friday, February 27, 2026 — Season 2 of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters on Apple TV+.
