The creators have also shared some new details about their upcoming project.

Developer Ember Lab has announced that the adventure game Kena: Scars of Kosmora is delayed to 2027. The developers explained that the decision stems from a desire to get extra time to polish the project and bring its quality to the level the team aims to achieve following Kena: Bridge of Spirits, but on a significantly larger scale.

Kena: Scars of Kosmora will retain the linear structure of the first installment and its focus on characters, yet the new game will offer a broader and deeper world. Players will be able to follow the main path as well as explore territories beyond the usual route.

The story will once again center on Kena, a spirit guide who acts as both a warrior and a spiritual healer. Before the events of the game, she spent many years helping the deceased find peace by confronting manifestations of their pain and the Corruption infecting the surrounding world. However, Kena is beginning to realize her own limitations, having learned how to help the dead while exploring almost nothing of what it means to be a guide for the living. Furthermore, the heroine is accustomed to dealing with other people’s suffering while paying far less attention to her own.

Kena hopes to find answers to these questions on the mysterious island of Kosmora. Her childhood friend Orphio believes that is where information is hidden that can help them deal with their past and future. Therefore, Kena sets off to the island to learn more about her purpose and her own roots.

Kosmora once housed four interconnected cultures, each building its life around one of the four elements. The ancient spirit guides of the island developed a unique system based on these elements and Alchemical Temples. Nevertheless, a mysterious cataclysm destroyed one of the cultures, and the spiritual significance of the elements was eventually forgotten.

At the same time, ancient knowledge continues to influence the surviving cultures of Kosmora. The longer the true history of the island remains buried, the more serious the dangers associated with it become. Spirit guide temples will play an important role in the game as large-scale dungeons where players will test their skills and receive rewards that can substantially change Kena’s further adventure.

Meanwhile, the island itself has not been turned exclusively into the ruins of an ancient civilization. Several modern cultures live on Kosmora, each with its own history, values, and problems. Kena’s investigation will gradually lead her to a clash between the island’s past and the lives of its current inhabitants. To progress further, the heroine will have to take into account the characteristics of different regions and adapt to new circumstances and characters.

The game world will also be noticeably larger than in Kena: Bridge of Spirits. To travel across Kosmora, Kena will receive a new companion: a mysterious crystalline creature shaped like a dog. It is directly connected to the history of the island and will serve as more than just a means of transportation.

The companion will let Kena move faster across the world, help her in combat both mounted and on foot, and be used when solving Alchemical puzzles. Together, Kena and her new ally will set out in search of answers intended to help heal not only the heroine’s own scars, but also the wounds lying at the very foundation of Kosmora’s history.
