Critics Praise Gears of War E-Day as Best in the Series

The game launches on October 1 at 6:00 PM Moscow time, but this applies only to owners of the Premium and Collector’s editions. For everyone else, the shooter releases on October 6.

First reviews for Gears of War: E-Day have begun appearing online, and judging by the reaction of Western media, The Coalition has succeeded in restoring the series to its former glory. Most reviewers praise the gunplay, the new movement system, the cinematic direction, and the relationship between Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago. At the same time, critics agree on one point: the game is not without controversial design choices, primarily concerning open area segments of the levels.

Jumping, sliding, and climbing have made firefights more vertical and dynamic without disrupting the familiar cover mechanics.

Ally artificial intelligence, certain protracted battles, and a lack of variety outside the core combat loop appear weaker.

The main drawback is the open segments, which occupy roughly 30% to 40% of the campaign and periodically disrupt the pacing, alongside side missions that mostly require the player to hold a position against waves of enemies.

Gears of War: E-Day is the best game in the series. The story allows players to experience the events of Emergence Day in minute detail, immersing them in an atmosphere of terror and grueling trials. At the same time, the improved movement system is exceptionally well-suited, and the firefights have become more diverse thanks to an impressive arsenal and the ability to use weapon attachments.

This dynamic, emotional, and incredibly brutal shooter is sure to appeal to fans of the series and newcomers alike.
