Helldivers Movie Delayed to 2028 with Alan Ritchson Starring
The defense of Super Earth on the big screen will begin seven months later than originally planned.
Sony Pictures has pushed back the premiere of the Helldivers movie adaptation from November 2027 to June 2028. The studio has not disclosed an official reason, but the project has undergone significant cast changes over recent months.
Jason Momoa, who was slated to play the lead role, left the film in June. Sony has now officially confirmed his replacement: Alan Ritchson, known for the television series Reacher, has joined the adaptation. He will play one of the soldiers defending Super Earth from alien threats.

Justin Lin, who directed several installments of the Fast & Furious franchise, remains attached as director. Production is being handled by Sony Pictures and PlayStation Productions. Plot details and the names of the remaining cast members have not yet been announced.
The film is scheduled to premiere on June 9, 2028.
