2025 belongs to KPop Demon Hunters. Sony Animation’s blockbuster about Huntr/x — a fictional K-pop girl group who double as demon hunters — has taken Netflix by storm. The film’s success has extended beyond streaming: it enjoyed a strong theatrical run, shattered Billboard chart records, and inspired a thriving Archive of Our Own fanfiction scene. (Yes, we see you, Polytrix fans.)

Its cultural footprint has now reached Saturday Night Live territory.

SNL has a long history of memorable guests and impressions, from Timothée Chalamet channeling his inner pop star to Pete Davidson’s Barbie riffs. But this weekend’s appearance was notable for a different reason: the singing voices behind Huntr/x — Ejae (Rumi), Audrey Nuna (Mira), and Rei Ami (Zoey) — made a rare live-group appearance, marking the first time the trio performed together on a late-night stage.

In the Season 51 premiere, a sketch centered on Bad Bunny’s character, who joins friends played by Chloe Fineman, Mikey Day, and Sarah Sherman for brunch. Instead of catching up on ordinary small talk, he can’t stop gushing about KPop Demon Hunters, to increasingly exasperated responses from his pals.

At one point, when a friend flatly says it’s “cool” that he likes the music, Bad Bunny’s character fires back that those songs are more than pop — they’re weapons. That line mirrored conversations many fans are having about the film’s thematic weight and how the music functions within its world.

As the sketch progresses and Bad Bunny drifts deeper into obsession, the live vocalists behind Huntr/x step in for a brief but stirring delivery of “Takedown” and “Golden.” Even in a short TV spot, the voices that power the film translate powerfully to the stage.

Huntr/x are also slated to appear on Jimmy Fallon this week, so fans will get to hear more live performances soon.
