Pixar’s latest animated venture, “Hoppers,” has made a significant splash during its opening weekend, pulling in $88 million worldwide, according to industry reports.
This marks the studio’s most successful launch for an original intellectual property since the 2017 release of “Coco” ($153 million). Domestic audiences in North America contributed $46 million to the total, while international markets added a solid $42 million.
The film follows the journey of a young girl named Mabel, who undergoes an experimental procedure to transfer her consciousness into the body of a beaver. Now living life in the wild, she must bridge the gap between humans and animals while uncovering the secrets of her new forest home.
The project features an ensemble voice cast including Piper Curda, Jon Hamm, Dave Franco, and Meryl Streep. Directed by Daniel Chong (“Cars 2,” “We Bare Bears”), the film has been met with glowing reviews, currently boasting a 94% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
