Elon Musk wants to release a historically accurate Odyssey
Elon Musk has put forward a bold vision for a new screen adaptation of Homer’s *The Odyssey*. Inspired by the cinematic success of Christopher Nolan, the billionaire announced his willingness to bankroll a $100 million production, expressing a desire to see Mel Gibson take the helm as director.
Musk initially took to social media to share a clip generated by his AI, Grok, claiming that the technology would soon be capable of producing a feature-length adaptation of the epic that remains strictly faithful to Homer’s original text and historical context by the end of the year.
However, the entrepreneur has set his sights beyond AI-generated content. He revealed that he is weighing the possibility of funding a live-action film that prioritizes unflinching historical authenticity over traditional Hollywood spectacle. The proposed project aims to feature accurate Bronze Age weaponry, armor, and seafaring vessels, with dialogue performed in ancient Greek, drawing directly from Homer’s classic poem.
