Production has officially concluded on a fresh reimagining of “Courier,” the cinematic adaptation of Karen Shakhnazarov’s iconic novella. This modern take breathes new life into the beloved 1986 Soviet classic, transplanting its narrative into the landscape of contemporary Moscow.

Denis Kosikov, recognized for his performance in “Na Avtomate,” takes on the lead role. The story centers on a young protagonist who, following a rift with his parents, heads to the capital. In doing so, he abandons his former life and rejects conventional expectations, including his academic path.

The ensemble cast also features Alexandra Tikhonova, Filipp Yankovsky, Anna Mikhalkova, and Anastasia Nemolyaeva, with Ilya Ermolov (“Golden Bottom”) serving as director.

The creative team behind this project opted for a nuanced evolution rather than a literal remake, tailoring the narrative to resonate with a modern generation. The film explores today’s shifting perspectives on career trajectories, educational priorities, family dynamics, and the universal search for personal identity.

The release of this new rendition of “Courier” is slated for 2027, coinciding with the anniversary of Karen Shakhnazarov’s original masterpiece.
