Josh O’Connor Joins the List of Candidates for the Role of Bond
Josh O’Connor, known for The Crown and Knives Out, has reportedly made the final shortlist to play the next James Bond, according to Deadline.
He will join Jack Lowden (Slow Horses), Callum Turner (Only One Night) and one unnamed actor, whose identity remains under wraps, in the final round of screen tests next week.
Sources say earlier reports naming Jacob Elordi (Euphoria) as a contender were inaccurate. The Hollywood Reporter adds that Jack O’Connell (Sinners, 28 Years Later) has also dropped out of the running.
Amazon MGM Studios is expected to reveal its new 007 before the end of the year. Denis Villeneuve (Dune) will direct the 26th Bond film, with a script from Steven Knight, the creator of Peaky Blinders. No release date has been announced yet.
This year, O’Connor appeared in Steven Spielberg’s sci-fi film Disclosure Day. Next year, he will star in Joel Coen’s gothic thriller Jack of Spades and the black-and-white drama Three Incestuous Sisters, alongside Saoirse Ronan and Dakota Johnson.
