Jesse Eisenberg declines to play Zuckerberg in ‘The Social Network’ sequel

Academy Award nominee Jesse Eisenberg has firmly shut the door on reprising his iconic role as Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg. This revelation comes from Aaron Sorkin, the director of the upcoming film “Social Reckoning.”

Despite a persistent three-day effort from Sorkin to convince him otherwise, Eisenberg remained resolute in his refusal.

He simply didn’t want to be synonymous with Mark Zuckerberg, as he harbors his own grievances toward the man. He finds it off-putting when strangers approach him in airports, thrusting business cards that read ‘I’m CEO, bitch’a line from ‘The Social Network’ — Ed. and asking for an autograph,

— Sorkin shared in an interview with Vanity Fair. “Social Reckoning” serves as an unofficial successor to David Fincher’s “The Social Network,” focusing on the exposure of internal corporate misconduct within Zuckerberg’s empire. The lead role has been taken on by Jeremy Strong (“Succession”).

The film is slated for release on October 9. The cast also features Mikey Madison and Jeremy Allen White. Later this year, Eisenberg is set to appear in the comedy “A Real Pain” alongside Julianne Moore.
