New Adaptation of “The Master and Margarita” to be Released in US Theaters

Michael Lockshin’s acclaimed adaptation of The Master and Margarita is officially heading to US theaters. The film will be distributed stateside by Luminosity Pictures, with its North American cinematic debut scheduled for September 18.

As reported by Variety, the film’s domestic release follows a protracted period of legal hurdles that had previously cast doubt on its availability in the region. US audiences will finally get to see the production nearly two years after its triumphant box office run in Russia.

Based on Mikhail Bulgakov’s iconic novel, the film chronicles the life of a writer whose career is stifled by censorship, only for his reality to be upended by the arrival of the enigmatic Woland. The ensemble cast features Yevgeny Tsyganov, Yuliya Snigir, August Diehl, Yuri Kolokolnikov, and Claes Bang.
