Jason Statham’s “Mutiny” leaked online ahead of theatrical release by mistake
Amazon Prime Video accidentally made the action thriller “Mutiny,” starring Jason Statham, available to stream online prematurely, just days before its scheduled theatrical release in the United States.
For a two-hour window, subscribers were able to access the film in high definition. Representatives for Amazon, the studio Lionsgate, and Statham have declined to comment on the mishap. International distributors have expressed shock, describing the incident as entirely unprecedented. In Russia, “Mutiny” is slated for a theatrical premiere on August 27, courtesy of distributor Atmosfera Kino.
In the film, Statham portrays Cole Reed, a man who witnesses the murder of his billionaire employer. When Reed is framed for the crime, he is forced to go on the run, ultimately uncovering a sprawling conspiracy in the process.
Directed by Jean-François Richet (“Mesrine”), the movie also features Annabelle Wallis, Adrian Lester, and Arnas Fedaravičius. The film has received a lukewarm reception from critics, currently holding a 44% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
