Coming of Age” Star Eyed for Role in Ridley Scott’s “Treasure Island
Actor Owen Cooper (known for his performance in *The Edge of Seventeen*) is reportedly in talks to headline 20th Century Studios’ upcoming adaptation of the classic novel *Treasure Island*.
The casting rumors were ignited by director Ridley Scott, who also confirmed that Hugh Jackman has been tapped to portray the legendary pirate Long John Silver. Additionally, Scott expressed his hopes for securing Hugh Grant to join the star-studded ensemble.
It is widely expected that Cooper will step into the shoes of the young Jim Hawkins. The screenplay for this new iteration was penned by Jack Thorne, the acclaimed writer behind *The Edge of Seventeen* and *Lord of the Flies*.
Following his breakout success and critical acclaim for *The Edge of Seventeen*, Cooper recently appeared in Emerald Fennell’s adaptation of *Wuthering Heights*.
