Filming of “The Nutcracker” Starring Mark Eydelshteyn Has Wrapped
Central Partnership has officially announced the completion of principal photography for its upcoming feature film, The Nutcracker.
This cinematic reimagining, inspired by the classic E.T.A. Hoffmann tale and Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s iconic ballet, is slated for theatrical release on January 1, 2028. The ensemble cast features Mark Eydelshteyn, Sofia Lopunova, Svetlana Khodchenkova, Yevgeny Mironov (as Tchaikovsky), and Anna Zavtur, among others.
Set against the atmospheric backdrop of late 19th-century Saint Petersburg, the holiday fantasy follows Marie (Lopunova), a ballerina who joins a theater troupe under the direction of Madame Drosselmeyer (Khodchenkova). As the company prepares for a grand production of The Nutcracker, Marie finds her life intertwined with the free-spirited Franz (Eydelshteyn).
The film is directed by Felix Umarov (known for Prophet: The Legend of Alexander Pushkin), with Nikita Mikhalkov serving as one of the project’s producers.
