First actor announced for Naruto adaptation
Actor Charles Melton, known for his standout performances in Beef and May December, is reportedly in negotiations to join the cast of the live-action Hollywood adaptation of the iconic manga Naruto.
Melton is being eyed for the role of Kakashi Hatake, the enigmatic mentor to the series’ trio of young ninjas, including the protagonist, Naruto Uzumaki. The project is being helmed by director and screenwriter Destin Daniel Cretton (Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse) and will be distributed by Lionsgate.
Previously, industry reports hinted that Melton might be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s upcoming X-Men reboot, with rumors suggesting he could portray Beast, though Disney has yet to confirm any casting details. In the meantime, Melton is gearing up for a top-secret project from the Academy Award-winning duo the Daniels, the creators of Everything Everywhere All at Once.
