Jason Schreier Details Reported Tension Between Sony and Hideo Kojima
Journalist Jason Schreier has revealed details about the conflict between Sony and Hideo Kojima over the Physint project, stating that several months of negotiations regarding a growing budget and the game’s direction failed to yield a compromise.
Tensions between Sony and Hideo Kojima regarding Physint were indeed mounting, and journalist Jason Schreier has shared new details about the termination of their partnership.
According to the journalist, PlayStation’s decision was not sudden. The two sides spent several months engaged in tough discussions about the future of the game, its growing budget, and its artistic and business direction. The negotiations were intended to produce a compromise, although the disagreements proved too deep.
When Kojima felt that Sony was unwilling to fund a project that had not even selected a game engine yet, he began talks with Microsoft, even though PlayStation remained the financier of Physint at that time.

Schreier also notes strong disappointment within Kojima Productions regarding how Sony made its decision. At the same time, both companies understood that disagreements were mounting between them and the project was gradually approaching the threshold of profitability, meaning its cancellation did not come as a complete surprise.
