Jacksepticeye Discusses Bloodborne Fans’ Reaction to His Reported Movie Involvement

The YouTuber also discussed his role in the production of the animated film and his approach to adapting the game.

Bloodborne animated film producer Seán McLoughlin, known online as Jacksepticeye, has discussed fan reaction to his involvement in the adaptation. According to the YouTuber, about 80% of the responses contained criticism:

“I would say 80% of the feedback was critical. I don’t want to call it negative, because a lot of it was just… I would have reacted the same way myself: if some YouTuber joined the adaptation of my favorite universe, it would at least raise questions.”

McLoughlin stated that he understands this skepticism. He calls Bloodborne his favorite game and feels a sense of responsibility toward fans of the FromSoftware universe:

“I am not trying to redo the game, surpass it, or tell the exact same story. I want to pay tribute to this universe and create as good a story within it as I possibly can.”

McLoughlin also stated that he has significant influence over production. Specifically, he participates in creative decision-making and team selection:

“I am the person who says, ‘This is a good idea. This is a bad idea. We shouldn’t do this.’ In addition, I sign off on who we hire and who we collaborate with, so that the team goes through rigorous vetting. You shouldn’t bring in someone who has no idea what Bloodborne is. Put simply, I am sort of the vibe checker here.”

Sony announced a feature-length animated Bloodborne film at CinemaCon 2026. The movie will receive an R age rating, and production is being handled by PlayStation Productions and Lyrical Animation. A release date, cast, and plot details have not yet been disclosed.
