It Fundamentally Changes the Game — Helldivers 2 Creator Discusses Prototype of a New Mode
Arrowhead continues to experiment with its content.
It seems the creators of Helldivers 2 are exploring the possibility of introducing a new mode for players.
Former head of Arrowhead Game Studios and current Creative Director Johan Pilestedt recently highlighted a fan suggestion — Be_Spiritified expressed interest in seeing a roguelike-style mode.
The developer replied:
We have a prototype of a rogue-lite mode — it fundamentally changes the game!
Johan Pilestedt did not disclose further details about this mode for Helldivers 2.
The “rogue-lite” concept typically involves a progression system — even after unsuccessful runs a character can earn experience or resources and gradually unlock improvements, whereas a traditional roguelike resets all progress upon death.
