As Ireland’s longest national secondary road, the N59 spans over 290 kilometers, connecting Sligo and Galway. This journey offers a quintessential taste of the west coast, guiding you past tranquil villages, rolling green hills, serene lakes, and rugged Atlantic cliffs. Our development team has painstakingly recreated this route to capture the unique, atmospheric charm that draws travelers to this region from every corner of the globe.
Traversing the iconic Connemara Loop, you will find yourself navigating roads that thread elegantly between majestic mountains and glassy lakes. Those with a keen eye may recognize the picturesque Pine Island at Derryclare Lough, a scenic highlight we previously teased in our “Ireland: Guess Where We Are” preview.
Further along the path, you’ll encounter the magnificent Kylemore Abbey. Set against a backdrop of imposing mountains and reflecting over the water, this historic estate serves as a stunning testament to the care our map and asset teams have poured into every detail. Heading north, you’ll come across Killary Harbour—Ireland’s only true fjord—where the deep, mountain-carved inlet creates a dramatic sight. Keep your eyes on the horizon for views of Croagh Patrick, affectionately known as “The Reek,” one of the country’s most celebrated peaks.
The route also introduces you to the charming town of Westport. While it remains one of the more intimate settlements in the expansion, we prioritized its inclusion to ensure the diverse, authentic community spirit of the Irish countryside is fully represented.
Beyond Westport, the road pushes into the untamed beauty of Wild Nephin National Park. Here, the landscape shifts into a raw expanse of peat bogs, brooding hills, and sheer wilderness.
