Edinburgh: The UK Reworked

Comment Views: 3

Pop a bottle of Irn-Bru in the fridge, unwrap a Tunnock’s, and get ready for a short hop over the border! Today we’re delighted to give you your first proper look at Edinburgh, part of our ongoing UK Rework for Euro Truck Simulator 2. Without further ado, let’s explore what has changed in Scotland’s historic capital.

Edinburgh: The UK Reworked
Edinburgh is a city steeped in history and personality, home to some of Scotland’s most recognisable architecture. From the winding streets of the Old Town to the famous castle above them, the capital has a look all its own, and our team has worked hard to bring it to life in the game.

No recreation of Edinburgh would be complete without Princes Street, of course! Along this renowned shopping street, you’ll spot several of the city’s best-loved landmarks. These include the Scott Monument, the distinctive clock tower of The Balmoral Hotel, and Edinburgh Castle, which watches over the city from its perch on Castle Rock.

Another sight you may catch on your travels is Arthur’s Seat, one of Edinburgh’s most celebrated natural landmarks. It towers over the city and is visible from many parts of the capital and far beyond.

Still, we wanted Edinburgh to be more than a collection of famous attractions. As you drive through, you’ll pass a blend of bustling commercial streets and quieter residential neighbourhoods.

History is woven throughout the city, with churches and statues of notable figures dotted along the way. One of these stands at Picardy Place, where Sherlock Holmes keeps a watchful eye on the surrounding streets! It seemed a rather elementary detail to include in our recreation.

Follow the waterfront and you’ll arrive at Leith, one of the main industrial districts in our rework. The Port of Leith is central to this area, complete with docks, yards and the infrastructure around them.

On the hunt for work? You’ll find a good range of delivery jobs around Edinburgh! Head to Leith for contracts at the port or a nearby construction site, or venture out to the outskirts, where even more pick-up and drop-off locations await.

Drivers can also enjoy a rest stop by the sea, as our team has placed the Edinburgh garage right beside the coast! You might even spot a few friendly furry faces nearby, since the Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home is close at hand.

We’re also recreating some of the city’s familiar public transport, including its trams and double-decker buses, to add even more life to the streets. In addition, Edinburgh Bus Station is being built with our upcoming Coaches DLC in mind, so you’ll be able to collect and drop off passengers on journeys to and from the Scottish capital.

We hope you enjoyed this wee tour of Edinburgh and everything our team has been crafting for the UK Rework! There’s plenty more still to come, so keep your eyes peeled and follow our social media channels for the latest news, screenshots and updates. Until next time, keep on truckin’!
