A new EA job posting hints at a potential revival of Battlefield Mobile.
Electronic Arts appears to be renewing its focus on the mobile shooter market. The publisher has opened a search for a Vice President and Head of Mobile Shooters — a role that will report directly to Vince Zampella, who leads Respawn Entertainment and oversees the Battlefield franchise.
According to the listing, the position involves crafting a fresh strategy aimed at “expanding existing franchises and launching innovative titles for mobile platforms,” with particular emphasis on the Japanese, Chinese and Southeast Asian markets.
Notably, EA was already recruiting a Director of Player Acquisition for Battlefield in August, and that listing also mentioned mobile devices. At the time it prompted speculation about a mobile revival, and this latest vacancy only strengthens those conjectures.
Remember that in 2023 EA shut down Apex Legends Mobile and Battlefield Mobile, and closed Industrial Toys — the studio working on the latter. The company attributed the decisions to quality concerns and challenges retaining players. Still, EA’s recent hiring activity suggests mobile platforms are re-entering its long-term plans, making a return of Battlefield Mobile increasingly plausible.
