Insomniac Details Combat System Features in Marvel’s Wolverine
Insomniac Games has released a new gameplay trailer for Marvel’s Wolverine, breaking down the upcoming action title’s core combat and progression systems. Actor Liam McIntyre, who portrays James “Logan” Howlett, narrates the overview.
The gameplay centers on a fast-paced, aggressive combat system built around keeping constant pressure on enemies. Wolverine can chain together claw strikes, kicks, combos, and critical finishers. As players advance through the game, they will unlock new techniques that enhance specific combat maneuvers.
Logan can also unleash four special abilities that charge during combat. These include Tornado for clearing crowds, Bonebreaker for heavy strikes targeting enemy legs, and Spiral Strike. Players can equip four of these special moves at the same time to create seamless combos.
Character progression includes Adaptations, a system of dozens of upgrades designed to tailor Logan’s abilities to different playstyles. These perks can increase bullet resistance, boost Rage efficiency, widen parry timing windows, or make Wolverine a more intimidating opponent in battle.
The Rage system features a three-tier adrenaline meter centered on survivability, resilience, and fury. Players can spend meter charges to recover from critical situations, or trigger a berserk state to carve through enemies as long as they sustain their Rage level.
Marvel’s Wolverine is scheduled to launch on September 15, 2026.
