In today’s update, we are offering an exclusive look at the custom-built depots arriving in the highly anticipated Iceland map expansion for Euro Truck Simulator 2. Join us as we explore the intricate work currently being crafted by our design team.

The crown jewel of these new additions is a meticulously recreated silicon metal factory, modeled as a 1:1 replica of its real-world counterpart. This site serves as the headquarters for the new virtual entity, “Kísilverksmiðja.” The facility specializes in the production of silicon metal—a vital resource for chemical manufacturing, silicone and silane production, and high-strength aluminum alloys essential to the automotive sector.

Truckers will navigate a sprawling industrial complex, with various loading and unloading bays tailored to specific cargo requirements. The site also incorporates dynamic log-loading sequences, a cornerstone of this specific industry. Situated along the coastline, the depot offers a stunning driving experience, featuring a tunnel connection to the city and breathtaking ocean vistas.
We are also introducing three bespoke quarries located in the towns of Selfoss, Patreksfjörður, and Blönduós. Aggregate extraction—encompassing both rock and sediment—is a pillar of the Icelandic economy, providing essential materials for regional infrastructure and construction projects.

These sites operate as branches of the established “MS Stein” company, which many of you will already recognize. Each quarry is uniquely integrated into the Icelandic terrain; the first two are nestled at the base of dramatic cliffs, with one offering sweeping, panoramic views of the sea.

Furthermore, we are debuting six custom farm depots that capture the essence of rural Icelandic life. These family-run homesteads are modest in scale, architecturally adapted to withstand the island’s harsh climate through the use of functional concrete and corrugated metal.

Visitors to these farms will encounter regional livestock, including Icelandic sheep and cattle. Some depots, such as those near Reykjavík and in Þórshöfn, are tucked discreetly into the topography, while others sit prominently along the roadside.

In designing these areas, our team focused on authentic atmosphere: narrow, winding roads, deep valleys, charcoal-hued volcanic soil, and clusters of farm buildings anchored against rugged mountains. The experience is completed by expansive views of the rocky highlands where sheep roam freely.

That concludes our preview for today! If you are eager to explore this expansion, please show your support by adding the Iceland DLC to your Steam wishlist.
