How to Steal Pinky’s Ladder in Mina the Hollower

While exploring Mina the Hollower, a cryptic frog may drop a hint about purloining Pinky’s ladder. It might seem like a bizarre request—after all, why would you want to pinch the property of a helpful gorilla? As it turns out, this ladder is the key to reaching an essential collectible, though you’ll need to exercise a bit of light-fingered cunning to pull it off.

Below, we walk you through the process of stealing the ladder from Pinky’s shop and why it’s a necessary maneuver for your journey.

How to pilfer Pinky’s ladder in Mina the Hollower

To set the stage for this heist, you must first purchase an item located on either the far left or right of the display shelf. By doing this, you force Pinky to move the ladder to retrieve your goods. Once he’s occupied with the transaction, he’ll leave the ladder exposed, granting you the perfect window to swipe it.

Next, you’ll need to infiltrate the shop from the rear. If you suspected there was more to Pinky’s Parlor than the storefront, you were right. Clear a path by destroying the round plant situated in the bottom-right corner. Keep an eye out for these obstructions throughout the Backwaters—they act just like the brittle tombstones and stumps scattered across the island and often hide secret shortcuts or extra bones.

Navigate the path around to the back entrance. Inside, you’ll spot a high ledge hosting a valuable item, but it’s completely inaccessible without the ladder. Just be careful; if you linger too close to Pinky, he’ll grab you and toss you back out the front door.

Carefully approach the ladder and burrow underneath it. Hug the edge tightly to avoid detection, then pop up and claim your prize. Your reward for this bit of larceny is a joule box, which permanently expands your maximum joule capacity, allowing you to utilize your sidearms more frequently before needing a recharge.

The ladder is versatile and can be utilized in other areas of the Backwaters to reach further hidden items, such as the Evasion Powder trinket perched atop a building just left of the Swamp Station. Be sure to also carry it south of the station toward Loner’s Landing.
