Sony Reportedly Not Rushing PS6 Development as Release Timeline and Price Remain Uncertain
Sony has not yet determined the release date and price for the PS6, while rising costs for memory and storage could make manufacturing the new console significantly more expensive.
During a recent meeting with investors, Sony representatives discussed the company’s long-term hardware strategy. Executives emphasized that they do not intend to sell future devices at a severe loss per console, so they continue to monitor market conditions and evaluate the potential price of the new platform.
PlayStation CEO Hiroki Totoki separately noted that the exact release date for the PS6 has not yet been defined either internally or in official statements.

Rumors pointing to late 2027, which aligns with a traditional seven-year cycle following the PS5 release, remain a possible scenario, but Sony is not making any commitments.
One reason for this caution is the sharp increase in prices for RAM and high-speed storage amid high demand from other technology sectors. According to reports in various media outlets, the cost of PS6 components could approach $1000, creating a difficult challenge for Sony in maintaining profitability while keeping the price acceptable for buyers.
