Warner Bros. New Owners Will Retain DC Studios Leadership, Keeping James Gunn Safe
The creators of the new DC cinematic universe will continue their work following the merger of Paramount and Warner Bros.
James Gunn and Peter Safran will remain at the head of DC Studios after the merger of Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery, at least for the foreseeable future. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the studio heads met on October 1 with David Ellison, who will lead the merged company. Ellison offered both executives the chance to keep their positions and asked them to “keep doing what you’re doing.”
The publication also reports that Ellison visited the set of Superman, Gunn’s upcoming movie, during the summer.

The companies plan to close the deal on October 6. The merged corporation will be named Skydance and will bring Paramount, Warner Bros., DC, HBO, and other assets under one roof.
