Creator of Heroes 3 Plays Remake and Shares Feedback

The developer hopes that Ubisoft will be able to bring back the original music.

Ubisoft contacted one of the developers of the original Heroes of Might and Magic III and asked them to evaluate the remake. Michael Wolf played the game and shared his impressions of what he saw.

Overall, the developer remains satisfied. He published gameplay footage and praised the art in Heroes of Might and Magic III Remake:

I have to tell you, I’ve seen videos online where other players go through this game and call it “neuron-slop” and “AI garbage.” However, it actually looks really good—I really like it. Everything is clean, and the artists’ work is high quality. That’s cool.

Michael Wolf also appreciated the ability to use zoom to get a closer look at the image. However, not everything turned out well. For example, the developer noted the idle animation of the Pikemen, which he believes should be refined:

Look at the animation of these guys—they are just raring to go. I would fix the idle animation: let it run at a normal speed, because right now it looks like they are suffocating. And the speeded-up animation would only kick in when they start moving. To tell you the truth, we had the exact same problem in the original.

Michael Wolf considers the music in Heroes of Might and Magic III Remake to be “not bad,” but states that “it’s not the Heroes 3 soundtrack.” The developer still hopes that Ubisoft will be able to secure permission to use the original soundtrack, as it is an important part of the game.
