New GTA VI Footage Shows Lucía and Jason as Vulnerable and Strong Characters

The writers aimed to make the characters feel like real people.

As the release of Grand Theft Auto VI approaches, various details about the project continue to emerge. Game Informer recently published a major feature dedicated to the new game from Rockstar Games, and Love Magazine has now released several new screenshots.

In addition, information was shared regarding the relationship between the main characters, Lucia and Jason. Writer Elizabeth Gauvey-Kern stated that the creators wanted to make the protagonists flawed, portraying them as both strong and vulnerable:

We wanted both protagonists to be vulnerable, strong, flawed, sometimes right, and sometimes wrong, capable of learning from each other. We believe that is what makes them feel real and a great team.

Another writer, Alexa D’Agostino, noted that she tried to write the GTA VI characters as real, fully realized people with their own desires:

When you focus on writing a fully realized person with their own desires, you end up with something completely flawed—with quirks, but undeniably real.

Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled for release on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles.
