To reunite the wayward musician in Mina the Hollower, you’ll need to venture into a secluded corner of Nox’s Bayou and escort the tiny performer back to his bandmates in the swamp. It’s a bit of a trek, and you’ll need to master the art of “frog-tossing,” but this guide will walk you through the entire process step-by-step.
Here is how to locate and return the missing band member in Mina the Hollower.
Locating the missing frog
Upon entering the Backwaters: Shanty Swamp from the Western Wilds, you’ll encounter a sprawling lake dotted with rotating wooden platforms. Head to the northern side to find a trio of NPCs—Stan, Zach, and Gumbo—who are lamenting the disappearance of their amphibious keyboardist. They’ll explain that their friend wandered off into the mysterious, violet-hued depths of the Bayou.
Note: Don’t mistake this little guy for Buffo or Lucky, the much larger frogs located near the Boat Bog and the band’s northern chamber; they are definitely not the band member you’re looking for.
To reach the Bayou, exit the central lake area by heading southwest.
Before you can rescue the frog, you must fully clear Nox’s Bayou by defeating the local boss and restoring the spark generator. Once the generator is back online, head south to return to the Boat Bog.
In the following area, look for an exit to the northwest. While it appears inaccessible, there is a hidden passage concealed behind the waterfall. Navigate down the rope, head left, and burrow upwards. You will emerge in The Forgotten Fen, where you’ll find your missing frog waiting inside a bucket.
Escorting the frog back to the band
To pick up the frog, you’ll need to burrow beneath his bucket. Keep in mind that while you’re carrying him, you cannot burrow; if you need to cross water, you’ll have to toss the frog across the gap. He will glide in a straight trajectory until he hits solid ground.
If you can’t reach the bank directly, simply toss him as far as possible, jump across, and quickly scoop him back up. Be warned: the frog will only remain stationary in the water for roughly five seconds before sinking. If he begins to tremble, he’s about to submerge, at which point he will respawn slightly further back.
As you traverse back through the insect-filled rooms, you can toss the bucket over obstacles or use it as a makeshift weapon against foes—just try not to launch your friend into the abyss! If he lands in a spot that blocks your path, a quick strike from your primary weapon will nudge him forward a few tiles without harm.
Once you reach the Shanty Swamp again, navigate to the northern section. Jump across the final gap, toss your friend onto the moving platform, and hop over to complete the reunion.
Speak with the reunited band (the frog’s name is Cliff!) to earn your reward: the Tumbling Tutu, an accessory that grants you a spinning attack. If you feel generous, you can donate 100 bones to the group; doing so hints that you might catch their performance at the Music Hall in Ossex later in your journey. Always remember to exit the area to ensure your progress is properly saved.
