Sony Leading Race to Adapt Battlefield Directed by Mission Impossible Director, Reports Say
Warner Bros. Discovery, Amazon MGM Studios, Universal, and Netflix are also competing for the project.
Sony Pictures has emerged as the frontrunner to adapt Battlefield and is currently in talks to acquire the project, according to TheWrap journalist Umberto Gonzalez. In addition to Sony, Warner Bros. Discovery, Amazon MGM Studios, Universal, and Netflix are competing for the film.
Christopher McQuarrie, the director of the last four Mission: Impossible installments, is attached to the film. He will write the screenplay, direct the picture, and serve as a producer. Michael B. Jordan is also involved as a producer and could potentially star in the lead role, though his casting is not yet confirmed.

Meanwhile, Paramount is preparing a Call of Duty adaptation. Peter Berg will direct the film and write the script alongside Taylor Sheridan, the creator of Yellowstone and writer of Sicario. The movie is scheduled to premiere on June 30, 2028.
