Navigating the sprawling world of Mina the Hollower requires a keen sense of direction, making a map an essential companion for your journey. Rather than offering a traditional bird’s-eye view of every individual room, the map serves as a macro-scale guide to the entirety of Tenebrous Isle.
While it functions primarily as a navigational aid to highlight unexplored territories and guide your next move, its true potential is unlocked through upgrades. By enhancing your map, you gain access to comprehensive checklists that track the various collectibles hidden across each distinct region, ensuring you don’t miss a thing.
Here is your step-by-step guide to acquiring and upgrading the map in Mina the Hollower.
Securing the Map: Rescuing Rhene and Drillhardt
To obtain your navigation tool, you must first coordinate the rescue of Rhene and Drillhardt. Your starting point is the Hollower’s Guild, situated just to the right of the main entrance in Ossex. Gain entry by dismantling the crates stacked against the building’s exterior and leaping inside.

Once inside, navigate the north wall’s opening and speak with Muriel, who will point you toward the “burnt town” to the south. Before setting off, ensure you have at least one kear in your inventory. Journey south from the Ossex entrance until the path concludes, then ascend the western stairs. Use your kear to unblock the northern route, neutralize the waiting threat, and activate the floor button to retract the spikes. After crossing the gap, deposit a plasma vial into the “1” marked yellow gate to proceed.
Inside, clear out the hostiles and press the button located in the room’s upper-right quadrant. Ascend the stairs to the right, cautiously maneuvering past traps and foes until you reach Rhene. Use another plasma vial to mend their wounds; once restored, they will accompany you.
Escorting Rhene requires patience, as they cannot burrow and are limited to jumping over single-block gaps. Should you become separated, Rhene will remain stationary at the last point of contact. To exit the facility, you must trigger every switch in the subsequent chamber and escort Rhene safely to the northwest exit. Pro-tip: Clear the enemies and activate the switches alone first, then return for Rhene to ensure a smooth passage through the now-open gates.
After escorting them back to the Hollower’s Guild, seek out the green spiral protruding from the rocks in the lower-left corner. Smash it to reveal Drillhardt, who offers the standard map for 500 bones. Once purchased, you can collect your map from the northwest corner of the Underlab. This will unveil all visited regions on your interface; restored regions appear bright, while unexplored zones remain obscured by dark clouds.
Unlocking the Enhanced Map
To acquire the enhanced version of the map, which includes the aforementioned collection checklists, you must successfully restore three spark generators. Once these are active, Drillhardt’s shop inventory will refresh, allowing you to purchase the upgrade for 500 bones. Remember: individual area checklists only display information once the spark generator for that specific region has been brought back online.
