The ROG Xbox Ally X is set to debut soon, and fresh footage of Microsoft’s handheld has already surfaced. The bigger question is whether the device can win over a broad audience.
The unit aims to be highly flexible, offering access not only to Xbox Game Pass but also to Steam, the Epic Games Store, and Battle.net—potentially enabling PlayStation titles to run on the “portable Xbox.”
New videos on the GameV channel show how the system handles several major recent releases. Tested titles include Battlefield 6, Helldivers 2, Forza Motorsport, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, and Fortnite. All of them ran smoothly in the demonstrations.
For example, Battlefield 6 on low settings with AMD FSR holds a stable 60 fps, while Helldivers 2 at 1080p on mixed settings runs between 60 and 70 fps. Forza Motorsport with ray tracing enabled and high settings averages around 50–55 fps at 1080p and about 60 fps at 900p. Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 depends on the power profile: Silent (13W) yields roughly 40 fps; Performance (17W) about 60 fps; and Turbo (35W, plugged in) delivers “Extreme” performance with noticeably higher frame rates. Fortnite in 1080p at medium settings produced 70–80 fps.
Keep in mind these tests were conducted on a pre-release unit, so final performance figures may change after launch-day updates.
