Someone kept a factory-sealed copy of the Valve classic for decades.
A copy of Half-Life recently sold at a Goldin auction. Bidding started last month at 100 dollars and reached 13,725 dollars after 70 bids.
This sale sets a price record for any PC game sold at auction. The copy remains sealed and holds an 85+ rating from the Video Game Authority.
Goldin provided details on the item:
Akalabeth: World of Doom held the previous record for a PC game, selling for 11,211 dollars several years ago.
The Half-Life result trails far behind major Nintendo Entertainment System sales. Earlier this month, a sealed copy of Super Mario Bros. sold at a Heritage Auctions event for 3 million dollars.
