Haikyu!! Gets New Trailer Ahead of Final Film

Toho Animation released new trailers and teaser images for the Haikyu!! anime as part of the Haikyu!! Day celebration. The franchise currently has two releases scheduled for 2027: a television special titled Where Monsters Go and the feature film Haikyu!!: VS The Little Giant.

Upcoming Haikyu!! Anime Projects for 2027

The special episode Where Monsters Go centers on the match between Fukurodani Academy and Mujinazaka High School. Footage from the preview highlights star players Kotaro Bokuto and Wakatsu Kiryu trading spikes on the court.

The feature film Haikyu!!: VS The Little Giant picks up the Tokyo Nationals Arc where Haikyu!! The Dumpster Battle left off. The movie serves as the second entry in the two-part Haikyu!! Final project intended to conclude the adaptation. Anime franchises occasionally extend beyond advertised finales, as seen when Attack on Titan stretched its final run across multiple years, but the two films aim to wrap up the remaining narrative.

Series Background and Manga Legacy

Haikyu!! follows Shoyo Hinata, an athletic teenager determined to excel on the volleyball court despite his short stature. Hinata joins Karasuno High School, teaming up with former rivals and new teammates to compete for a spot at the national tournament.

The animated series adapts the manga written and illustrated by Haruichi Furudate, which ran in Weekly Shonen Jump from 2012 to 2020. Viz Media distributes the 45 compiled volumes in North America, and the manga has surpassed 75 million copies in circulation worldwide.

Production I.G produced 85 television episodes and five original video animations between 2014 and 2020. The broadcast run concluded in the middle of the Tokyo Nationals Arc around chapter 369 of the manga. Together, The Dumpster Battle and VS The Little Giant cover the rest of the storyline, and the Haikyu!! English dub remains available for streaming on Crunchyroll.
