Golden Axe TV Series Showrunners Consider Season 2 and SEGA Universe Expansion

All ten episodes of the first season premiered on Paramount+ on September 16, but the creators are already making plans for a continuation.

Golden Axe animated series creators Mike McMahan and Joe Chandler have discussed plans for a potential continuation. In an interview with ScreenRant, the showrunners stated that they intentionally used elements from various games in the series while working on the first season to leave room for the story to develop:

“There are plenty of extra heroes. Some look almost like new variants of the original characters, and we would love to feature them in the next season. Ideally, we could explore and expand the entire SEGA universe. But there is also still a great deal left to show within the Golden Axe world itself.”

The first season reimagines SEGA’s classic 1989 game in a metacomic format. Ax Battler, Tyris Flare, and Gilius Thunderhead learn about the return of Death Adder and search for a way to defeat him, but disagree on how to do so.
