God of War Creator Calls for Firing of PlayStation Studios Head

David Jaffe has called for the dismissal of PlayStation Studios head Hermen Hulst, blaming him for the publisher’s failures and suggesting that Shuhei Yoshida be brought back to a leadership role.

The creator of the first two God of War games and Twisted Metal believes that Hulst is directly responsible for PlayStation’s poor decisions in recent years. According to Jaffe, projects should have been halted at early stages through playtests.

Why did you need so many people and resources to realize that Hunters Gathering is a bad idea? I am furious that they spent so much money. These projects could have been stopped earlier thanks to playtests. You could have saved so much money if you had simply published an early test online. In just one week, you would have understood whether such a game makes any sense. Why doesn’t he [Hermen Hulst] understand this?
(…) This guy just doesn’t understand games. He probably doesn’t play them at all. And it infuriates me because it’s not hard to notice that these projects never had a chance.
(…) Hermen should be fired, and that will probably happen. But who should replace him? Shuhei Yoshida should be on the list of candidates. It needs to be someone who breathes and lives games.

Jaffe also criticized Hulst over decisions surrounding Wolverine, stating that the characters in the game look so bad that they seem designed to deter players from buying the PlayStation exclusive.
