Frequent “behind-the-scenes” Steam updates for Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag stoke expectations of an imminent remake announcement
Fans have long urged the developers to remaster Black Flag.
Various insiders have previously claimed that Ubisoft is preparing a remake of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag.
Recently, files for AC Shadows reportedly contained a reference to the distinctive title «Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced», which has further fueled speculation about an updated release.
Some expect the game to be announced during The Game Awards 2025. Players sifting through the available data have pointed to entries in the SteamDB records — in recent months several behind-the-scenes updates were logged.
Developers are said to have “uploaded roughly 246 MB of new data to the public Steam branch”, and observers speculate this may be part of announcement preparations (they could have pre-added promotional assets that are currently hidden).
The Game Awards 2025 is scheduled to begin on December 12, 2025 at 3:30 AM Moscow Time.
